Ashley Lynn Tosses Perfect as Huskies Sweep

CHARLOTTE, NC--Bloomsburg University softball pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) tossed the 11th perfect game in school history as the Huskies defeated Johnson C. Smith College, 11-0, in five innings in the opener of a twinbill on Wednesday. In the nightcap, Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) tossed a one-hitter to lead the Huskies to a 9-0 five inning win.

In the opener, Lynn struck out seven and did not walk a batter in tossing her first collegiate perfect game and the first for the Huskies since March 11, 2005. Offensively, Bloomsburg got all the runs it needed in the third inning when it scored three times, then put the game out of reach with six runs in the third. Tara Emery (Sunbury/Shikellamy) went 2-4 with two runs batted, while Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) went 2-3 with two doubles and two runs batted in. Jess Snader (Mount Joy/Donegal) also went 3-4 with two runs batted in.

In the nightcap, Sheelin Fisher just missed her second career no-hitter allowing just a fifth inning single in a 9-0 win. Fisher struck out five and walked just one in the game.

Alyssa English (Wallacetown/Phillipsburg-Osceola) led the offense going 2-2 with a solo homer and a two-run homer, while Missy Bachert (Coplay/Parkland) was 3-4 and Casey Massimini (Downingtown/Downingtown West) was 2-2.

Bloomsburg, 5-4, plays at Belmont Abbey on Thursday.
